chi-town (part 1)

papa's been once for fun and a couple times for work, i've been once for work, and the boy hasn't been at all. so it's nice that the 3 of us are finally here all together enjoying a little vacay in chicago.

it never ceases to amaze me how much this little boy loves planes. i wish we could take one everywhere we go. he gets on, buckles up and looks out the window until take off. once we're completely in the air he's usually fast asleep.


since we arrived pretty late saturday night we hopped in a cab and went straight to our hotel. after a little debacle at the drake we ended up at the westin down 1 block on michigan avenue for our first night. by the time we walked in our room it was past midnight so you'd figure we went straight to sleep. but, we ordered some delivery instead. this baby in my belly has been really high maintenence with food lately so i'm taking everyone else down with me :)

sunday morning we slept in. something quite typical for us zaportezas while on vacation. we slept in so long that we ordered pizza delivered straight to our door and first up was...giodarno's. now that's what i call deep dish!


after our very lazy morning we finally pulled it together and set out to conquer the city.



nanny lannie suggested navy pier so we decided to go there first. lucky for us we found a free trolley.


it took us right where wanted to be.






the pier was packed. so in order to ditch the crowds we boarded a water taxi that took us away. where we were going, we weren't sure.


but in no time we found ourselves at the aquarium and walked back stopping now and then to enjoy the view.




we were just about to be on our way to dinner until our plans came to an abrupt end for the evening. and this is why!


i guess the excitement of the day combined with a little bit of jet lag proved too much for our little traveler.
