hello world

for the past 1 1/2 weeks i'd be sitting on the couch timing my contractions and getting my hopes up that he was on his way. but every morning i'd wake up in sheer disappointment. i made it through yet again another night and my little boy still hadn't made his grand entrance.

saturday morning was just like all those other nights. i woke up and was sitting on the couch timing my contractions. they were kinda consistent and coming about every 10 minutes or so. this was no different than before but i can say they were just a little bit stronger. by the end of breakfast i was pretty sure it was finally the day so i jumped in the shower and started to get ready. by the time i was ready the darn contractions died down and i was flooded with disappointment once again. a little before noon i was on the phone with angela telling her how annoyed i was and that i just wished he'd come already.

thankfully, my wish was answered and about an hour after that conversation the contractions came back. they were more intense and getting closer. right away we called keren (our friend/lifesaver whom we can never repay for everything she's done) and she hurried over to pick up mateo. saying bye to him was harder than i thought. i'm not exactly sure what came over me and why but it was definitely an emotional moment. so i did my best sucked it up and said my goodbyes.

on the way to the hospital, i still wasn't 100% sure that it was time. the contractions were getting strong but they were still pretty far apart. we got all the way to the exit and i tried stalling one last time but ended up going straight to the hospital. it was a good thing we did because by the time i was checked i was already 6cm and more than half way there.

the rest of the experience was a dream compared to the first. okay...okay...i take that back. i won't go as far as calling it a dream but i am happy to report that i finally know what it feels like to have an epidural that actually works. and boy, what a difference it makes!

now, only by God's grace can we introduce to you...
