week 1

saturday...

mateo, eli, and i woke up to the beautiful california sun shining in our faces and a house filled with loved ones. we ate breakfast, lounged around, and simply enjoyed the company.

later that afternoon we celebrated kevin's birthday at the new kelley abode. after seeing pictures of this place on the internet i knew it would be the kids' new favorite hang out and boy was i right. just look at it. gavin has his very own park right in his backyard.

caleb, mateo, and gavin ran around for a few good hours and then had to come in because it was getting a bit too cold. i bet if it were up to them they would've spent the rest of their lives out there.

my boys hanging with uncle jj and auntie darcy. don't they look like a cute happy little family. i wonder when they'll be adding to the cousin count :)

and of course i can't go without mentioning this big boat of a car. the guys were such dorks sitting in this thing that was parked in the garage practically the entire night. but what was even dorkier is that my husband was having a cow that he was missing out. what is it with guys and their cars? i really don't get it.

sunday...

mateo left bright and early with his grandpa and lolo to go to a helicopter show. knowing how much this boy loves his grandpa and lolo it's no surprise that he had a grand time. meanwhile, eli and i hung out with chris, dina, and tyler. the 2 little boys practically slept the entire time giving us the chance to be lazy and sit in front of the tv. now, that's what i call a vacation.

monday...

grandma decided to take the day off to spend some quality time with her grandbabies. we wanted to do something educational and fun for mateo and since he's totally in to dinosaurs right now we made our way over to the los angeles county museum of natural history.

the second we walked through the front doors this is what we saw. needless to say, mateo was in awe and i thought it was pretty cool too.

we wandered the museum and made our way through the crowds of school kids. besides the gigantic dinosaur fossils mateo's favorite part was the discovery center. this is where he got to touch bones of all sorts and get up close and personal with insects. i can't remember what this is but whatever it is it looks pretty fierce if you ask me.

we also went to the butterfly exhibit which happened to be my favorite part. just look how pretty they are!

but, mateo wasn't all that impressed. as soon as i told him it wasn't nice to try and smash them between his two hands he lost all interest and started playing with the rocks on the ground instead. oh boy, what am i to do with this crazy kid!
